Back in 2007, LWMF took an extraordinary trip to South Africa to work with the Sithabile Child & Youth Care Center (SC & YCC) and Sedibeng Sa Bophelo on a variety projects. LWMF will be going back again in September 2010 with an even greater charter. We will be purchasing school supplies and hygiene items, handing it out to the kids, getting them prepared for the school year. Sithabile is a Zulu word meaning “we are happy”.

Valley of a Thousand Hills: Zulu Land
We landed in Johannesburg just in time to spend one night with our friends before flying off again the following morning to begin our trip in earnest where "it" all began: Kwazulu Natal or Zulu land. This is the home of Shaka Zulu and it's the province in which Durban is located. The photo posted here is representative of much of the culture that remains intact, but in fact, modern Zulus look no different than you and me. The 2 (yes 2) birthday parties we went to that night was living proof that Zulu pride and partying are alive and kicking in the Motherland.
